BAILIE, Robert (Bob) Holmes

Bob Bailie of Calgary passed away on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the age of 86 years.

Bob was a native Calgarian. His first career was in the insurance business. He met his future wife Kay while singing in Scarboro United Church choir in Calgary. They were married in Edmonton in 1957 and moved back to Calgary two years later. Bob soon joined Air Canada (then Trans-Canada Airlines) where he worked for 30 years as a reservations agent. He was an active member of the United Church and sang in the choirs at Westminster and St. Andrews, occasionally performing solos. Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed travelling and took Kay and their four children on many wonderful adventures. In his retirement, he enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing.

Bob is survived by his children John Bailie, Anne (Dane) Sinclair, Doug (Lisa) Bailie, Alison (Mike) Koebel, and his grandchildren Kirk, Cale, Hayley, Jena, Myles, and Dylan. He is also survived by his sister Kay Millard and numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Bailie (2011), and his sister Marjorie MacEacheron.

A Memorial Service will be held at Deer Park United Church (77 Deerpoint Road SE) on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Inn From the Cold. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

    I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. For many years we rode the same bus to and from work. I would head for the CP Air office and, of course, Bob would head for Air Canada. We had many enjoyable chats during our daily commutes. Your Dad was a thoroughly nice person. My sincere condolences to all of you.
