Badrov, Mirko

Mirko Badrov, beloved husband of Klara Badrov of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre, surrounded by his loved ones, on Friday, December 24, 2004 at the age of 53 years.

Mirko was born on January 22, 1951 in Vrzerala, Livno, Croatia. He married Klara in Germany in February 1972, and they came to Canada in October of that same year. He was an active member of the Croatian Community in Calgary. He dedicated his life to the memory of his homeland and ensured that his children knew of the country and culture that touched his heart. Mirko enjoyed skiing with his children as well as fishing and he took great joy in the peace of the outdoors. Everyone who knew Mirko loved him as a kind man, with a gentle heart who gave everything of himself to others. He was a source of strength to his family throughout his long battle with prostate cancer, and his will to live amazed everyone who knew him. Mirko remained calm and appreciative of his good life until the end.

Besides his loving wife Klara, Mirko is survived by his son Robert; and daughters, Ruza and Kristina. He is also survived by his family in Croatia -brother and sister-in-law, Mate and Vesa Badrov and their children Ruza and Miroslav; sister and brother-in-law, Emilija and Josip Vulinovic and their children, Silvija, Natalija and Ruzica; step-mother Anda Badrov; step-brother Ante Badrov, his wife Romana and their child Luka; and step-sister Mira Olah and her husband Davor. Mirko also leaves behind two brothers-in-law and their families: Ante and Ljuba Gelo and their children, Ivanka and her husband Edvard (children Luka and Jacob), Suzi, and Marko and his wife Ivana; and Marko and Ivanka Gelo and their children Filip, Nikolina and Petar, all of Canada; as well as many friends and other relatives in both Croatia and Canada. We will all miss him. Mirko was predeceased by his father Ivan and mother Ruza.
