“Father Time is not always a hard parent, and, though he tarries for none of his children, often lays his hand lightly on those who have used him well; making them old men and women inexorably enough, but leaving their hearts and spirit young and full in vigour. With such people the grey head is but the old fellow’s hand giving the blessing, and every wrinkle but a notch in the quiet calendar of a well spent life.” – Charles Dickens

Condolence Messages

  1. Beth Allen Greene :

I’ll remember Aunt Gene with her twinkling brown eyes, quick wit, her warmth and her hospitality. She was always such a joy to visit when we travelled west these past years and in previous years when she visited us on the east coast. We have remembrances of her remarkable handicrafts here in our house – a small Christmas mouse, a Red riding Hood Doll and two copper bird pictures. While hers was a long life, well-lived, we share in your sorrow at your loss.
with sincere condolences, Beth and Dan Greene, Placentia, Newfoundland

  2. Graham and Pauline Allen :

On our last visit in 2013, my boys, Craig and Derek and I, had a chance to sit down with Aunt Gene and reflect on the visits and family gatherings over the years. The boys were especially impressed with her humor and wit and of course, her memory. My daughter Meredith has one of her crafted dolls and is now cherished by her family. I have the “Debbie” house clock, which still runs (if I wind it). We will miss her telephone calls that were especially appreciated as she always had the latest in family news. Being close to my mother, Mollie, also meant much to our family.
My sincere condolences at this time
Graham and Pauline, Craig, Derek and Meredith, Fredericton, New Brunswick

  4. Barbara Ballantyne :

Gene and Wendell were very special to the Ballantyne’s! I will never forget the wonderful occasions and Gene’s fabulous cooking when I was in my early teens and up. My mother enjoyed conversations with Gene on the phone for many years. Many times I should have expressed my appreciation as young person and through the years. Life gets so involved and we forget. So thank-you to all of Gene and Wendell’s family for your generous grandmother, mother and great grandmother. I do think of her and will miss her conversations on the phone.
