January 26, 1946 – Chur, Switzerland
February 2, 2015 – Calgary, Alberta
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Paul on Monday, February 2, 2015.
Paul was in Respite care at Colonel Belcher Care West Centre when he suddenly became ill and was transported to the Rocky View Hospital. We wish to thank the health care professionals for looking after Paul in his last hours.
He will be so missed by wife of 45 years, Cathy and sisters Anne and Sylvia. He has joined his son Michael, his parents Anna and Paul and numerous friends, relatives and cats in paradise.
Paul moved to from Switzerland with his parents and sisters Anne and Sylvia in 1951. They settled in Alberta and spent the majority of their time in Edmonton and Wetaskiwin. Paul and Cathy married in 1969 and moved to Winnipeg so Paul could attend the University of Manitoba, Architecture Faculty. Paul worked for the Bay and a couple of years later with young son Michael they transferred to Toronto compliments of the Bay. Two years later Paul was able to find work in Calgary and the family settled in Bowness.
Paul suffered a massive aneurism shortly after his 51st birthday and spent the next 5 years in hospital and rehabilitation facilities. He enjoyed his time at home in his lazyboy with TV remote over the last few years. He also enjoyed the excellent day programs at Fanning Centre and later at BowView.
The family is very grateful to the Calgary Health Care System. They have consistently provided excellent home and hospital care which added greatly to the quality of life enjoyed by both Paul and Cathy.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Claudia Orr officiating. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, because Paul loved all animals, donations are requested directly to Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue, Box 6131, High River, AB T1V 1P7.Print This Obituary & Condolences
