Condolence Messages

  1. I was sad to hear that Ella had passed away and wish to offer my condolences to her family. I met Ella through the Book Sale where she was one of the most stalwart volunteers. Ella worked there for many years despite her ongoing health battles and was our little ray of sunshine. I remember her apologizing for not being there every day one year because she had to go for dialysis. We all enjoyed her baking, especially those delicious butter tarts, that she kindly brought to the volunteers. I want to thank Ella for being an inspiration, in her own quiet way, to the many volunteers who worked with her through the years. Thanks to the Arnold family for sharing her with us.

    Yours truly,
    Rick Evis

  2. My sympathy to all of Ella’s family. I worked a number of years with Ella at the Herald book sale and was always impressed with her dedication and hard work. She was a real trooper – even this year when she told me she could work only short hours but was so happy to contribute to an important charity. You will miss her greatly.

  3. She was a rare and lovely little lady who I admired immensely. I met her the first year of the Book Sale and she immediately became an inspiration. I was often the first person at the Book Sale tent and Ella followed shortly after. We had a quiet time most mornings where we could visit and I cherish those memories. When I think of Ella I think of courage, determination and fortitude but I also think of sunshine and tranquility. Her smile lit up a room. I am honoured to have known her. My condolences to her family.
