Condolence Messages

  1. Janice Scullion :

What do you say about a woman who volunteered her time tirelessly for every cause she encountered? Joanne was truly the most selfless person I have ever met. I was fortunate enough to work alongside her at the University the past several years and will forever miss that deep belly laugh of hers, her instant offer to help with absolutely anything and her great sense of humour. Even when she was first diagnosed, she worried more about everyone else than herself. Taken much too soon, but her amazing legacy will live on in everything she touched. Love you Joanne.

  7. Jackie Brummund :

My deepest condolences to Joanne’s family. Although our relationship was only based on work related phone calls, I always enjoyed talking to her. She was always so pleasant to talk to, always so helpful and had such a good sense of humor. I had the privilege of meeting her once at her office and the stress “cow” she gave me will now have a new meaning for me. Goodbye Joanne, may you rest in peace!

  12. I have had the pleasure in knowing and working with Joanne for many years. Her generosity and dedication to help charities and people in need was affirmed when she received a U Make a Difference award at the Univeristy. I remember how she tirelessly baked containers and platters of goodies for fundraising…. the most coveted was her double layer chocolate Bernard Callebaut cake. She will be missed, my deepest condolences to her family.

I have had the pleasure of working with Joanne for many years and I will greatly miss our interactions. Joanne was such a kind, caring and wonderful individual. I was so sorry to hear of her illness and passing and Joanne’s family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Joanne was far too young to be taken from you. The Cumming School of Medicine will miss Joanne because of her expertise, her smile, and her countless hours of volunteering. Rest in Peace, Joanne.

  16. Joanne was the living definition of a trooper. She worked her butt off time and time again for countless charities and fundraisers. In 2008, Joanne and I teamed up with several others to walk in the 60 km Weekend to End Breast Cancer which was not only physically challenging but also financially challenging. I am certain that if it weren’t for Joanne’s dedication and creativity, I would have never made my fundraising minimum goal of $2,000.00. Joanne thought of numerous inventive ways to raise funds for the cause and managed to make it fun rather than seem like work. We ended up raising a lot more than just $2,000.00 each, which went towards the Alberta Cancer Foundation. We also earned numerous extreme blisters that weekend as result of the physical challenge, which Joanne so bravely met head on. Joanne will continue to inspire me throughout my life, and I hope that we can all learn from her selflessness. My sincere condolences to Joanne’s family and friends.

We had some great times together, friend, and I’m privileged to have had you in my life for a few years. I pray that wherever you are, you’re still working and helping others. They’re the fortunate ones now. This world will feel the loss.

  23. Julia Trangeled :

Joanne, the ultimate fundraiser, utterly selfless, always jovial, helpful and thinking of others. Several times she tirelessly raised funds for the fee for the 60km walk on the Weekend to End Breast Cancer in the most imaginative ways without asking for direct donations and I was privileged to be asked to join her because she raised enough money for another participant. She suffered terribly during that endeavor, especially with her feet, but she kept doing it again! God bless her . My deepest condolences to Ted and her family.
