Darryl Edward Anderson of Calgary passed into God’s loving arms on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the age of 54 years.
Darryl was born on August 2, 1952 in Beaverlodge, AB. He was the youngest of five children born to Edward and Edna Anderson and was predeceased by his father in 1976 and his brother-in-law Bert Moon in 2000. Darryl is lovingly remembered by Catherine (Katie) his wife of thirty-six years; and his three children, Leslie (Marc) Kronewitt and their children, Brendan and Ty, Jennifer (Robb) Cable and their children, Madison, Sawyer and Anderson, James (Michelle) Anderson and their son Gabriel. He is survived by his mother Edna; and sisters Ginny Moon, Pat Palmer (Ed), Sandy Donald (Jim), and Darlene Anderson.
Darryl and Kate met at the tender age of thirteen and fourteen, and became sweethearts in Jr. High school. They were married in 1970 and began making a home and raising a family in Ft. St. John, BC. Darryl began working with his father-in-law Jim (Diana) Good at James Good Trucking, with eventually buying into the company as a partner. With the sale and retirement of James Good, Darryl and Kate moved their family to Spruce Grove, AB and Darryl began working with Reef Mud. The years in Spruce Grove were prosperous ones, with the opening of their Smitty’s restaurant and the graduation of all three children. Darryl bought in as a partner in Reef and with this new opportunity and challenge, Darryl and Kate moved to Calgary. Reef was sold after a couple of years, and Darryl was able to realize a life long dream of purchasing some land, building a ranch, riding his horses and driving his mules. Darryl made it his full-time job building the barn, shop, garden and riding arena. At forty-nine, being bored with retirement, Darryl and partners started Alliance Energy Services. Darryl was instrumental in growing Alliance into one of the industry’s top service companies. Darryl was an outdoor enthusiast who lived life to the fullest, whether it be riding, skiing, scuba diving, hunting or fishing. Darryl spent time with his grandchildren teaching them to ride horses and quads, shoot arrows and pellet guns, and playing pond hockey on the lake. Darryl had a passion for driving his mules up to the Clearwater with business associates, friends and son. Darryl’s legacy will continue through his many friends who share his passion and family who will love and treasure him forever.
“Here’s to you dad, driving your mules at age 85 in heaven!”
