January 12, 1943 – January 28, 2013
David Alan Charles Alsford passed away after a long courageous battle with bone cancer on Monday, January 28, 2013 at the age of 70 years.
David was born January 12, 1943 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England and moved to Ottawa, Canada when he was 18 years old; he then travelled through various provinces until he settled down in Calgary, Alberta.
He owned and operated Good Office Cleaners / Alsford Janitorial Services for over forty years and has maintained great relationships with his employees and contractors. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed reading to his children and going for long walks. While taking our walks, he was eager to share his experiences and teachings with ease and patience. He also spent many hours playing beautifully on his piano from classical music to rock, and there are many fond memories of him singing and playing Christmas carols around the tree during the holidays.
David is survived by his loving wife Jennifer Alsford; children, Robert Alsford (Brenda) and Lara Tulloch (Rod); grandchildren, Zabrina, Anita-Marie, Tyberius, Chrystyan, Brandon and Samantha; great-granddaughter Tessa; and his beloved cat Fifi. David was the son of the late Doris and William Alsford. David will be remembered fondly by his family, friends and surrounding neighbours.
God saw you getting tired
when a cure was not to be.
So He closed His arms around you
and whispered “Come to Me.”
In tears we saw you sinking.
we watched you fade away.
Our hearts were truly broken,
you fought so hard to stay.
But when we saw you sleeping,
peacefully and free from pain,
we could not wish you back,
to suffer that again.”
