ALLARD, Corinne “Heath” (nee Paynter)

May 18, 1928 – Calgary, Alberta
November 22, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Heath Allard on Saturday, November 22, 2014, after a lengthy time in care. She passed away peacefully at age 86.

Heath will be lovingly remembered by Herbert, her husband of 65 years; son Ross (Jennifer Pugh); daughter Julie (Jim) Bray; grandson David (Katrina) Avramenko (great-grandson, Maverick); granddaughter Lisa Avramenko (Josh Muise); and grandson James Avramenko (Jennica Grienke).

Heath was the daughter of Graham and Corinne Paynter. She lived her entire life in Calgary. She attended Christopher Robin, St. Hilda’s School for Girls, Connaught, Haultain, Western Canada High School and Henderson Secretarial Schools. She worked at the Treasury Branch, CIBC, and Bank of Montreal.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She made lifelong friends from school, work and volunteer activities. As a young person she enjoyed C.G.I.T., Sat-Teen, music and dancing. She volunteered as a Big Sister, Hi-C and ORT. Heath loved animals and always had a dog, cat, or both. She volunteered at the Calgary Zoo as a docent for over 20 years. She visited schools and seniors facilities with her great friend Tom Baines. They gave lectures and demonstrated zoo exhibits (the gimmick bag).

A Celebration of Heath’s Life will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If so desired, donations can be made to the Meow Foundation North Hill Centre, PO Box 65024 RPO North Hill, Calgary, AB T2N 4T6, Telephone: (403) 230-6033 www.meowfoundation.com or Calgary Humane Society, 4455 – 110th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2C 2T7, Telephone: (403)205-4455, www.calgaryhumane.ca. The Allards would like to thank Kaye Cummings for her lifelong friendship and her many cards and letters. Dear Herb, Ross and Julie sorry to hear of Heath’s passing. When I remember Heath I always think “Lady” she certainly personified the name. I am sure your memories of her will be carried on in your children and grand children. It is nice to remember that she brought smiles to so many in her hours at the zoo.

  4. Dear Herb and Family,
I was sorry to hear of your loss. Heath was a special person who I will always remember fondly. We knew each other at the Zoo and were reacquainted when I bumped into her at Brentwood Care Centre during a visit with my Father-in-Law. I enjoyed many brief but enjoyable visits with her and I always went away thinking the world needs more Heath’s.
    Sincere best wishes and condolences,

I remember the many hours spent in Mrs Allard’s incredible presence. She always had a quip, an insight, a joke. She always made me feel welcome. There was always another chair at the breakfast table. I am sure I got my love of dancing from seeing Mr and Mrs Allard practice their Arthur Murray steps together…. always a perfect couple. A beautiful, elegant woman who led an amazing life. I am very thankful for having the honor, the privilege and the joy of knowing her.

Judge Allard, we were so sorry to hear about the loss of your lovely wife Heath. I have known and worked with you for many years at the court house, we have only met your wife in the community on occasion. Although she seemed like a lovely lady, I am learning now that she was quite a remarkable woman. Sixty-five years together (wow!) may your fondest memories give comfort to you and your family in the days ahead.
