ALEXANDER, Douglas “Bruce”

October 29, 1958 – October 12, 2012

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Bruce Alexander on Friday, October 12, 2012 at The Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 53 years.

Bruce will be lovingly remembered by his parents Barb and Don Alexander; his brother Greg Alexander (Carole Leroux); his niece Laura Alexander; his nephew Cody (Kathy) Alexander; Aunt and Uncle Bob and Joan Alexander; Aunt and Uncle Doug and Carol Fraser; and the rest of his extended family. Bruce will be truly missed and fondly remembered by all.

Bruce was predeceased by his brother Jack.

Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association of Alberta (5211 – 4th Street NE, Calgary, AB) www.cpa-ab.org The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at The Peter Lougheed Hospital for all their compassion and kindness throughout Bruce’s treatment.

    I was sad to learn of Bruce’s passing. I knew him through wheelchair sports when we played basketball in the early 1980s. Then he and I were the first wheelchair athletes ever to do the Calgary marathon in 1982 and Bruce was the first winner. He was a good friend and team mate. My condolences to Bruce’s parents, family and loved ones.
