Mary passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011.  She was predeceased by her husband Tom, and  is remembered by her children Bill (Maria) Stemp, Barbara (Ken) Oleschuk, Bob (Cathy) Stemp;  step-children Molly Turner, Rod, Bill and John Layman; grandchildren Lindsey, Katie, Geoff, Ben, Jessica, Emily, Taylor,D’Arcy, Paul,Danielle, Leah and Jacqueline.  Mary is also remembered by her sisters Gwen Thorssen and Phyllis Bernez, brother Harold Weir and her beloved dog Quest.

Gerald LaMarre passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the age of 63.

Gerry, as he was known to his friends, is survived by his wife Suzanne, daughters Jenna and Sara, son Josh (Shirin), mother Jeanne, brothers Lionel and Paul (Pauly), sisters Cleone, Lynnette and Janet (Gordon), family pets Otto and Puzzles, as well as as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Gerald will be most remembered for his caring and compassionate nature, the love he had for his family, and his rich sense of humour.

A memorial tea in celebration of Gerald’s life will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 1:30 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. at the Cochrane Ranche House.

DACK, Vera Elizabeth Louise (nee Hamman)

Vera Dack of Calgary, passed away onAugust 30, 2011at the age of 91 years.

Vera was born in Taber, Alberta and was raised in a loving family of 8 siblings. She attended normal school inCalgarywhere she met and married the love of her life David Dack. Vera and Dave moved to Calgary in 1956 where they raised their family and lived happily for 50 years.

Vera was an active member of Woodcliff United Church. She contributed much to her community, delivering Meals on Wheels for 20 years and helping with ARBI.

Vera is survived by her son Stephen Dack of Edmonton, AB, her daughter Laurie (Wes) Johnson of Spring, Texas; granddaughters Ashley Johnson (Dave Harrison), of Providence, R.I. and Talya (Brandon) Bean of Houston, Texas; her sister Patricia Snell of Calgary, AB and sisters-in-law Helen Hamman of Calagy, AB and Bessie Hamman of Lethbridge, AB and a large extended family.

She was predeceased by her son David Harold and her husband Dave.

Satruhan (“Saten”) Prasad lost his battle with cancer, and passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 61 years. Saten is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Aruna Prasad; daughters Angela, Sharleen (Harold); and granddaughter Jaya.

Saten was born in the Fiji Island, and came to Canada in 1972. He and Aruna were married in Fiji in 1977, and they settled in Vancouver, BC. They later moved to Calgary where they raised two daughters and ran a successful business.

Jerry Mellen, beloved husband of Nela, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the age of 61 years.

Besides his loving wife of thirty-four years, Jerry is survived by daughter Becky (Brad); grandson Dawson; his mother Mary; brother James Courtney (Cristina); sister Barb Hofer (Dave); sister-in-law Margaret-Anne Stroh and several nieces and nephews. NESBITT, John McFall

John Nesbitt, beloved husband of Wendy Nesbitt of Calgary, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the age of 87 years.

John was born in Gull Lake, SK. He was educated in Paris, ON, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Western Ontario where he graduated with a business degree. John spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry as a Petroleum Landman, at Great Plains Oil Company and later Norcen Oil. He was an early member of the Landman’s Association, the Glencoe Club where he enjoyed curling and a long time member of Knox United Church. He volunteered with the Girl Guides Association and the Post Polio Society. John was known as a resource for borrowed tools and always fixing flat tires when he resided in the community of Elbow Park. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Besides his loving wife of fifty-eight years, John is survived by three daughters, Janet Nesbitt, Margot Nesbitt both of Calgary and Liz Nesbitt of Rossland, BC; four grandchildren, John and Shannon Nesbitt and Mitch and Cara Lizzi. He is also survived by his brother Robert Nesbitt of Kelowna, BC; two nieces Cathy Nesbitt and her husband Richard Romolok of Kelowna, and Carol Holland and her husband Ted of Longvalley, NJ; great-niece and great-nephew, Gwendolyn and Graydon Holland; a nephew Doug Turnbull (Maureen MacPherson) of Coquitlam, BC; and sister-in-law Jean Dell of Vancouver, BC and brother-in-law David Turnbull and his wife Nancy of Toronto, ON. He was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Dr. Mary Nesbitt of Berwick, NS and his sister Margaret Arnott of Barrie, ON.

Otto Johann Holtorf beloved husband of Ingrid of Calgary, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the age of 79 years.

Otto was born on April 1, 1932 in Gluckstadt, Germany, the eldest child of Kathe and Heinrich Holtorf. It was in Gluckstadt that he met and married Ingrid (Rauchel), the love of his life. In March of 1957 they sailed on the M.S. Welheim from Hamburg to Halifax, final destination Calgary. Otto worked for CP Rail as a switchman until he retired in 1992.

Besides his loving wife Ingrid, Otto will be greatly missed by his daughter Connie Bennett and husband Scott and granddaughters, Lainey Kate and Sierra of Okotoks; son Ron Holtorf and wife Jackie of Calgary; sister Gerda and husband Gunther Braack; and sister-in-law Lotti Holtorf of Germany. He was predeceased by his parents Kathe and Heinrich Holtorf and brother Rudy Holtorf.

Jennifer Wesley passed away peacefully to be with our dear Saviour Jesus, at the Foothills Medical Centre, surrounded by her family, on Monday, August 29, 2011.

Jennifer was born on October 15, 1947 in Morley, AB. She received her education at the Morley Residential School and finished in Grade 9. She also completed (G.E.D.) her high school diploma and went on to post secondary education with Athabasca University. Jennifer was a spiritual believer and enjoyed attending church gatherings and camp meetings.

Jennifer is survived by her only daughter Joy (Oral) Chiniquay; her grandchildren who knew her as Îna Chûnâ, Mel, Nick, Javan, Josh, Steven, and Zackery. She is also survived her siblings, Enid (Alvin), Clarence (Shirley), Lloyd (Sarah), Lori (Lawrence), special sister Beatrice Powder; her aunties, Nora Stephens, Helene Chiniquay, Winnie Simeon, Doreen Simeon, and Florence Twoyoungmen; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. We apologize for anyone we may have missed. She was predeceased by her parents Pete and Winnifred Wesley; her siblings, Emily, Ivan, Helene, Harold Florence, and Marjorie Wesley.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Jennifer Wesley (Morley, AB) today, September 2, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery (Morley, AB). Beloved wife of Lt. Gen., The Honorable Stanley Charles Waters, Senator (deceased), and cherished mother of Claudia (Micheal Kelly), Mark (Cheryl Wowk), Virginia (William Robinson) and Caroline (Kim Burden). Much loved and role model to grandchildren Michael, Isabel (Reid Hoglund), Margot, Sarah, Esme, Emily, Kythe, Alexandra and great-grandchildren Hannah and Elliott.
