Michael White Eagle passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 24, 2008.
He was born on April 28, 1942 at the Blackfoot Hospital, and later attended the Old Sun Boarding School. While there he enjoyed participating in a variety of sports such as boxing, hockey, and gymnastics, as well as survival corps and other activities. Residential School was a very difficult time in Michael’s life. He was very humble, respectable man who was one of the last to know some of the Traditional Holy Songs.
Michael married Roberta Iron Shirt, and they made Indian dolls together, including a special one for Pope John Paul. Michael began Pow-Wow singing in his teen years, and later was known as one of the “Big 4”drummers. He travelled to Saskatchewan, BC, and the United States to sing at Pow-Wows and Gatherings. Michael believed strongly in his traditional way of life. We enjoyed listening to his stories.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters Micheline (Andrew), Michele (Brian), Leann (Bradley) and adopted daughter April White Eagle. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Glen (Delphine), Donny (Jenny), Marvin (Delia), Dexter (Marie), Dion (Marsha), Rene (Laurie); adopted brothers, Paul Melting Tallow and Melvin Solway; numerous nieces and nephews, grand and great grandchildren; and extended families of Healy, Scalplock, White Elk, Sun Walk, Backfat, Medicine Traveller, Yellow Fly, Calf, Peace Maker, Brass, Black Plume, and Nepoose. The family apologizes for anyone we may have missed. Michael was predeceased by his daughter Debbie White Eagle; parents Cyril Notuseful and Josephine Peace Maker; brothers Wayne, Gerri; sisters Joyce, Loreen; grandchildren Lainey, Kyfer and Angela; auntie Mary Nepoose; uncle Mike Kipp; and grandfather Jack Kipp.

Albert passed away peacefully in his 88th year in the loving embrace of his family at Rockyview General Hospital on November 27, 2008.
Beloved husband to his cherished wife, Doris, each most precious to the other for 63 years, their love is eternal.
Born in Conquest, Saskatchewan, Al was a veteran of WW II serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 39th Reconnaissance Wing. In this capacity he was an instrument of deliverance to those held in Belsen and to a world gripped by tyranny. He worked as an electrician through four decades at Lawson and Jones Ltd in London, Ontario. There he and Doris raised their children: Allen, Susan and John. He remains a part of them. A special blessing to Albert was his son-in-law, Susan’s husband, Gary Melanson who has enhanced Mr. Barr’s life immeasurably. Retiring to Victoria and Calgary Al was content, revelling in his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. However poor health, uninvited, dogged him increasingly yet he was patient, constructive and positive. Throughout his life his faith, integrity, selflessness and humour never wavered.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Rockyview General Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at Southview Alliance Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Karen, our bright ray of sunshine Karen was born to Hugh and Lue Wilson in Wetaskawin, Alberta.
Karen loved adventure and travel. She had extremely fond memories of her years in Turkey and all the fun adventures she had with her family and friends there. Karen had many friends and loved to spend time with them traveling, skiing, hiking, golfing, sharing a meal, or just sitting on the deck with a glass of wine at the lake enjoying their company.
Karen went to school at the University of Alberta to become a registered nurse. After she raised her children she used her nursing degree to start a business with her friend Carol Perkins in the health and wellness field with Mobil Oil. Many people all over Alberta learned to look after their backs with the back care program that she created.
During the last year of her illness, Karen took to redesigning the cabin in order to create space for her growing family. She oversaw a large renovation project which she was able to see completed. Karen faced her illness with the same determination, strength and humour that she did with everything in her life. A special thanks to Dr. Ainsley and staff at the Peter Lougheed Hospital research program who helped Karen understand her disease and gave her hope.
She is survived by her loving husband, dance partner, and best friend of fifty-one years Bev Loney. She leaves behind her children, Heather Spackman and her husband Doug, and Hugh Loney and his wife Anna. Karen cherished all of her grandchildren, Josh, Dani, Michael, Rachel, and baby Kyle, who will deeply miss their time at the lake with their Gran. She also leaves her sister Bess Marshall and brother-in-law Ralph; two nieces, Karen and Jody; as well as Bev’s brothers, Barry and Adrian and their families. She will be missed by her cousin Fred Wilson who was her close friend and confidant since childhood.
