Enar Sandberg of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, July 29,2008 at the age of 88years.
Enar was born third of twelve children to Israel and Nelly Sandberg in Kattisavan, Sweden. His parents and seven of the children emigrated to Canada in 1929 and as the family began their new life, they welcomed four more children. Enar worked in the forest industry in Saskatchewan before entering the Canadian Army in World War II. He served in London in a military hospital. After World War II he and his family, co-owned and operated Sandie’s Café in Bashaw, AB. In 1949 he moved to Calgary with his parents and three sisters and worked in the landscaping business and he also drove a gravel truck for Burns. Enar loved to ski at Mt. Norquay and visited Hawaii where his movies document the trips. He was able to live at home and cancer did not stop him from his daily dinner in a good restaurant . Enar only spent his last six days in the hospital, mostly aware and pain free.
Enar is survived by his son Michael and by Michael’s mother Phyllis; son-in-law Howard Edge; granddaughter Kim Edge; and daughter-in-law Pamela Hartman; by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Gordon Macleod, Ruby and Angus Braseth, and Edna and Peter Hrynew; and by one hundred and seventy-seven nieces, nephews and their children. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betty), his parents, by eight siblings, and by his daughter-in-law Donalda Edge.

Kroell, Gertrud
Gertrud Kroell “Gerti” (nee Plaschke), of Calgary, beloved wife of the late William Kroell, passed away following a brief battle with cancer on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the age of 77 years.
 
Gerti was born in Bochum, Germany on July 17, 1931, and immigrated to Canada in 1969, settling in Kitchener, ON, and later Calgary.   She married William on June 12, 1972. Gerti worked as a driving instructor. Their most memorable vacation together was driving the MacKenzie and Alaska Highways. Gerti’s greatest passion was for classical music, and she was a long-time supporter of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. She also loved to do crosswords, and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Her greatest challenge in life was coping with the death of William in 1986.
 
Gerti will be lovingly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law Adelheid and Herbert Eiden, and their sons Thomas and Heribert Eiden; and by her brother-in-law and his wife, Hans and Johanna Kroell. Besides her husband William, she was predeceased by her nephew Stephan.

With love, sadness and fond memories, we announce the passing of our mother Nadia, after she lost her gallant battle with cancer at age 74. Nadia was born in Edmonton, AB to Katherine and John Fedor. She worked at Eaton’s Centre for over twenty years. Nadia will be lovingly remembered by her son Alan (Teena) Petersen; her daughter Lynn (Garry) Britton; her four grandchildren, Bert (BJ) Britton, Kimberly Britton (Garett Dick), Katrina Petersen and Brandon Petersen. She is also survived by her sisters, Lavia Borys and Sylvia (Bob) Mulcahy. She was predeceased by her brother Peter Fedor and brother-in-law Peter Borys. In 2005, God brought an angel into her life; she soon married Isaac (Ike) Doerksen who loved her dearly. She was welcomed into his family by his daughter Darlene (Ken) Fach and his son Glenn (Claudia) Doerksen. She will be dearly missed by all of them, their children and grandchildren. Anna Kuchniewicz beloved wife of Stanislaw passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the age of 58 years. Anna was born on March 28, 1950, and married Stanislaw on December 29, 1973. She taught Chemistry for twenty years in Poland before coming to Calgary in 1991 where Anna worked in a Day Care teaching and caring for children. She loved to take long walks with her dogs and to travel Europe. Anna also loved to work in her garden and was very proud of the flowers she grew. She deeply loved and cared for her family, devoting her life to her husband and children. Besides her loving husband Stanislaw, Anna is survived by her daughter Joanna; and her son Radek. She is also survived by her sisters Bozena Gierus, and her children, Alex (Bogusia) and Mark (Christina) and Irena (Krzysztof) Faryna and her children, Agnieszka (Wojtek) and Tomek. Anna was predeceased by her parents. Ronald (Ron) Addeman Baker of Calgary passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the age of 82 years. Ron was born on June 26, 1926. He farmed near Blackie, AB until the late 1950’s when he moved to Calgary and started a Lead-Shot business in Cochrane, AB. An avid sportsman, he played baseball in his youth, represented Alberta curling in the Brier and was a national champion trap shooter. Ron was head coach of the Canadian Clay Target Team for many years, participating in several Olympic Games. In his retirement Ron enjoyed travel and the company of friends and family. Ron is survived by his loving wife Etoyal; daughter Kathleen; his son and daughter-in-law Greg and Susan; and his grandchildren Jackie and David. Allister Robert Fraser, beloved husband of Mary Fraser of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the age of 64 years. Bob was born, raised and educated in Nova Scotia. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, then earned a Master of Economics from the University of Alberta. He worked at the ERCB, Dome Petroleum, Amoco, B.P. Canada and most recently EnCana. He battled cancer with his wife Suzanne, who predeceased him in 1976. His own fight with cancer was lost at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Bob is survived by his wife Mary, son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Tammy; daughters, Laura and Karen; and grandchildren, Taylor, Mackenzie and Riley. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay and Betty (Ed); brother, Doug (Ann); and Wayne, Faye and Betty Hleucka.
