Peacefully, on the morning of May 29, our Rudy (Dad) and beloved husband of Linda entered into rest.

Born in the Netherlands, Rudy immigrated to Canada in 1954 and lived in Ontario and Manitoba before settling in Calgary in 1977. Rudy worked for nine years managing credit unions before joining the Calgary branch of CUMIS, where he worked until his retirement in 2000. A great lover of music, Rudy sang in the Knox United Church choir for twenty- six years and would serenade family and friends at every opportunity. Since retiring, Rudy and Linda enjoyed many wonderful traveling adventures, especially the 25th anniversary trip to Australia in 2002 where they renewed their wedding vows on the beach.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Linda; children, Brian, Brenda, Kirk and Craig; grandchildren Katelyn, Carter and Tori Grosart, Liam and Grace van der Veen, and his faithful little companion Freedom. Rudy was pre-deceased by his first wife Martje (Marcia), sister Hinke, and parents Meindert and Japke.

Moyna May McIlhargey, beloved wife of the late James of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of 81 years.

Born in Calgary on July 6, 1926 to Barney and Mary Joyce (nee Prudhomme), Moyna, a five foot one inch dynamo, was the youngest and by far the prettiest of the vivacious Joyce girls, Colleen (Tom) Fairs, Patricia (Charlie) Veilleux, and Betty Kelly, with an older brother Emmett and a much younger brother Garry (Meridee).

Moyna was baptised at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School, since demolished, and in 1948, married her high-school sweetheart, the apple of his eye, himself, James Lawrence McIlhargey at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Predeceased by Jim in 1989, Moyna missed him desperately and continued to celebrate their marriage, April 7th of 2008 being their sixty first wedding anniversary.

Jim and Moyna were blessed with five wonderful children, Patrick (Jewel), Mary Lou (Don) Gyonyor, Barney (Laura), Joseph (Ute), and Tamara (Rob) Stichbury; twelve grandchildren, Jessica (Neil) Longstaff, Jay McIlhargey, Angela (Brent) Hilderman, Stacy (Dan) Bilodeau, Jodie (Ken) Thorsteinson, Nicholas McIlhargey (very special friend, Angela Barreto), Tekla McIlhargey (very special friend, Chad Heron), Simon McIlhargey, Danielle Stichbury, Paul Stichbury, Justin McIlhargey and Calvin McIlhargey; nine (plus) great grandchildren, Trevor and Kaiden Longstaff (Jessica and Neil), Mckenna and Malik McIlhargey (Jay), Shaylee and Cole Hilderman (Angie and Brent), Gracie and Isabella Bilodeau (Stacy and Dan), Cali and bump (Jodie and Ken), and bump (Tekla and Chad, boy, due September). Always close to her were her numerous nephews and nieces, their spouses and children, the Holloways, the Kanes, the Veilleuxes, the Fairs, the Kellys, and the Joyces.

Born June 6, 1952, mom succumbed to cancer on May 10, 2008 at the age of 55.

She was predeceased by her husband Terry of twenty-five years on July 8, 1998. Tena will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her daughters, Katrina (Kevin) and Teresa (Oliver); and grandchildren, Jaeden, Vanessa and Lorenzo. Harding, Lois

Lois Harding passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008, at the age of 93, while living at Extendicare Hillcrest in Calgary.

Lois has said many times she had a varied and interesting life. She was always a very good student. By age eight she had moved several times and attended six different schools in London and Guelph, Ontario. She then lived fourteen years in Regina where she attended Collegiate and the University of Saskatchewan, obtaining her B.A. Lois followed this with a stenography course and worked for the YMCA in Toronto and Halifax for a few years. She came back to Winnipeg where she received her M.A. in Psychology. After working some years for a special school in Portage La Prairie, she received her M.A. in Pedagogy from the University of Syracuse. At the age of 61 Lois married Stanley Harding in Calgary and had “20 wonderful years together”. Lois was very fond of music and had a lovely contralto voice. She sang with the Sweet and Low Singers in Portage, the Philharmonic Choir in Winnipeg, and the Senior’s Choir in Calgary. She was a dedicated gardener and had a very soft spot in her heart for children and animals. Lois appreciated the care given to her by the staff of Extendicare Hillcrest and enjoyed visits from friends and family. She was a very caring person and was kind to everyone she met, family, relatives and friends.

Lois’ presence will be greatly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, June and Don Pratt and their children: Rob, Jim (Terese) and children Kelsey, Keynan, and Braydon; Margaret and her children Leah, Celina, Alexandra, and Tyler and by Gary Bravar, father to Margaret’s three younger children. She will also be missed by her step children Margaret and her children Karen, Florence, Meghan, and Gwen; and Richard (Gwyneth) and his children Carrie, and Rebecca. She was predeceased by her husband, Stan Harding; father, Harold S. Fry; and mother Stella May Fry (Wismer).

A Memorial Service will be held at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Jeremy Paul Holwegner, beloved husband of Sonia Holwegner of Airdrie, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the age of 33 years.

Jeremy was born January 25, 1975 in Calgary and grew up in Strathmore and DeWinton. He graduated from Western Canada High School in 1992. Jeremy married Sonia Biswanger on August 23, 2003. He owned and operated Data Scavenger with two partners and was Chief Development Officer for many years. Jeremy enjoyed all sports and in particular was an avid Calgary Flames fan.

Besides his loving wife Sonia, Jeremy is also survived by one son and two daughters, Alivia, Jaxson and Tatum. He is also survived by his mother Loreen Lehmann (Bert) of DeWinton; father Dale Holwegner (Pam) of Strathmore; sister Stacey (Tom) Wilkins, and their children Chance, Cheyenne and Sage, of Airdrie; two step-brothers Brett (Leanne) Lehmann and Colin Lehmann; grandparents Gerald and Marion Kernaghan of Turner Valley; Sonia’s parents Kathy and Neil Biswanger of Didsbury and their family. He was predeceased by his grandmother Dorothy Kimmett and grandparents Paul and Phyllis Holwegner.

Teresa Piccaro of Calgary passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of 72 years.

Teresa was born in San Martino, di Lupari, Italy and immigrated to Calgary in 1955. She married Alfredo Piccaro on April 25, 1959. Teresa was a very family oriented person who adored every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the greatest joy of her life. She had a passion for gardening and cooking and always made certain that no one left her home without sampling some of her cooking. Teresa was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who will be dearly missed.

Teresa is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Giuliana and Kenneth and Lidia and Tony all of Calgary; granddaughter Jordana and grandson Nicolas. She is also survived by her sisters, Gelsomina of Calgary, Luigina and Maria in Italy; sister-in-law, Eugenia of Calgary and numerous family members in Canada and Italy. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 24, 2008.

John was born and raised in Toronto, ON. After a happy courtship he married Bernice Jaggs with whom he enjoyed fifty-one sweet years of friendship and love. Bernice has lost her dearest friend. John apprenticed and was licensed as an Ontario Land Surveyor before being called to serve in the ministry. He valued the experience of the apprenticeship system for it stood him in good stead in his ministry.

In 1957, John and Bernice began a westward trek. He first moved to Winnipeg, MB to enter St. John’s Seminary. Upon graduation John faithfully served our Lord in the Anglican Church at St. Matthew’s Cathedral, Brandon, MB, St. Mary’s, Virden, MB, St. Matthew’s, Regina, SK, The Diocese of Qu’Appelle as Diocesan Archdeacon, St. Stephen’s, Swift Current, SK, St. Andrew’s, Calgary and as Pastoral Assistant at The Cathedral, Calgary. John also diligently served the church as Diocesan Registrar and Archivist. He was made a Canon of the Diocese of Calgary in 2007.

John was a gifted artist with an exceptional eye for colour and a love for nature that he captured with brush and paint. John’s emotional and spiritually significant watercolours touched the heart, soul and spirit while captivating the eye.

John was an active member of the Calgary Sketch Club for many years. He also painted with the Monday Afternoon Group of the Centennial Art Gallery.

John’s faith was a living faith and his love of God was evident to all who encountered him. He cherished those with whom he was able to visit with his pastoral ministries. John found great joy in ministering to the Dinka Christian community. He was presented with the first humanitarian award by the Canadian Nigerian Association and was made an honourary member.

John and Bernice were blessed with loving children and grandchildren, David and Wendy, and their children, Matthew, Jamie and Christina; Anne and John McKee, and their children, Madeline, Eveline and Jack; Mary and Brian Simmonds, and their children, Benjamin and Breanne; and special family Maureen and the late Allan Harvey, Treena and the late Jerry Waldner, Jordan, Callan, Bonny, and Bill. John is also survived by his two sisters, Joyce (Bryan) Lusk and Jane (Bob) Gaul and their families.
