William (Bill) O’Carroll, beloved husband of Marie O’Carroll of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 82 years.

Bill was a top real estate salesman in Calgary in the 1950′s and 60′s. He was a member of the Millionaire’s Club and spent his working career employed by Prudential Toole Peet Real Estate and Keith Homes. Bill was also an excellent athlete.

Besides his loving wife of fifty years, Bill is survived by his brother Rev. Patrick O’Carroll of Barefoot Bay, FL; his sister Sister Rita O’Carroll of Long Beach, CA; brother-in-law George and Angela Couture of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews in Ireland, England and Canada. He was predeceased by his brother Michael; and brothers-in-law, Anton, Gabriel, Andrew, Frank, and Raymond.

Shirley Wright, beloved wife of John R. Wright of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 78 years.

Shirley was born in Detroit, Michigan. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family. Shirley served with the Girl Guides of Canada Movement for over fifteen years, retiring as an area commissioner.

Besides John, her loving husband of fifty-four years, Shirley is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Dorthy Wright, Ronald and Waldi Wright and Timothy Wright, all of Calgary; grandchildren, Gerald, James, Christopher, Jessica (Collin), Ronald Jr., Tristin and Angelica. She is also survived by her brothers, Raymond, Gordon; her sisters, Ethel, Ann and Winnifred; special niece Kelly and her husband John as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family members. Shirley was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur in WWII and Roy.

Gloria Pauline Kinsella of Calgary passed away on Monday, January 28, 2008 at the age of 77 years.

Gloria was born on April 30, 1930 in Jamaica. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Gloria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Pat and Jim Strome and her son David all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Krista Strome, Jon Strome, Brandon Kinsella and Avery Kinsella; a great-grandchild Caden Strome as well as numerous family in Ontario and Calgary. Sylvia Anne (Bridel) Brown beloved wife of Pierre Salois of Calgary, passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the age of 52, after a courageous battle with leukemia.

Sylvia had a very positive outlook and so much love for her family and friends. She loved warm weather and palm trees. Sylvia is loved more then words could express and she will be with us in our hearts forever. She truly enjoyed her fulfilling career and co-workers at Bentall real estate services.

Sylvia leaves behind her loving family, friends and her two precious dogs Muy, Lobo far too soon. Forever remembering all she has taught us.

Oliver, an only child was called home by our Creator on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the age of 36 years.

Oliver was born and raised on the Stoney Reserve where he resided all his life. He received his education at Morley and Exshaw schools. He was a kind, gentle and loving person who loved the outdoors. At a young age he took an interest in all sports but his highlight was in boys steer riding and in team roping in later years. Oliver’s passion to be outdoors loved hunting, fishing and doing mechanical repairs. He is also known to be a good worker with different businesses in the surrounding areas of Cochrane and Calgary, in carpentry and construction, MD landscaping, McLean Sawmill, Calgary Co operators and various oil companies. Oliver believed and maintained Nakoda culture. For a number of years, he travelled to pow-wows with his uncles, the renowned “Stoney Park” drum group throughout Canada and the United States. His kind and loving ways will never be forgotten.

Oliver is survived by his four children, one son Tylen and three daughters; Stephanie, Seline and Charith, his mother Shirley, close uncles that he grew up with Vernneil, Jerome and Randall (Cynthia), Vernon (Adele), and cousins, Allison (Craig), Randi (Gabe), Cassidy, Stephan, Misty, Steven (Adrienne) and Todd and, maternal aunties; Tracy, Ruth , Darlene, Evangeline, Eldra (Brian), Lorraine (Marvin), Myrna, Marjorie, Carrie (Chris), Verl (Ralph), and uncles Coleman, Lenny, Harland, Greaves, Van (Eva), Joe, Gardener (Valerie), Jess (Winnifred), Dallen (Mary Jane), Marvin (Eleanor), Harvey (Geraldine), Laron and Ron Potts, grandparents; Cassie (Charlie), Mary Jane, Georgie, grandpa John, and numerous relatives, close cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in the Treaty 7 area. Brian Hayes beloved spouse of Penny of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the age of 67 years

Brian was born in Montreal Quebec and moved to Calgary where he established his own furniture company in the mid eighties. He has many friends in the business and enjoyed his most recent business venture of which he shared with Penny. Brian played and coached football in his younger years and loved watching sports while enjoying his famous Montreal steamed hot dogs and French fries with his family. Brian’s heart never left Montreal and he will be returning to his heritage where he will be buried with his family later in the summer (a notification will be posted before the event so that all family and friends may pay their respects). We will truly miss his infectious fun loving attitude towards life.

Brian is survived by his spouse Penny, his son Michael Hayes, his wife Kim Hochstein and granddaughter Payton Dee Hayes currently living in London England, and son Patrick Francis Hayes of Calgary He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Heather and Kenny Broden of Montreal, QC, Gary and Diane Hayes of Victoria, BC, Terry and Claire Hayes of Montreal, QC, Michael and Joan Hayes of Edmonton, AB and by numerous nieces, nephews and great friends. Brian was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Hayes and by his nephew Terry Broden and was the beloved son of the late Frank and Bernice Hayes.

Louis (Lajos) Nagy, beloved husband of Elizabeth Nagy of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 84 years.

Louis was born December 9, 1923 in Tarodfa, Hungary. Louis was a veteran of World War II. He married Elizabeth Horvath in Hungary on May 28, 1950 and immigrated to Canada in 1957 arriving in Calgary on January 25. He was an artisan in cabinet making and enjoyed a long career at Calgary Millwork and Revelstoke Lumber. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Besides his loving wife Elizabeth, Louis is also survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Liz and Ben Pat, Gail and Bela Kiss, and Eva and Ken Cudmore all of Calgary, seven grandchildren, Ryan (Barbara) Pat; Lisa Pat; Robert Kiss; Rebecca Kiss; Andrea Cudmore; Matthew Cudmore; Elliot Cudmore and one great-granddaughter Desiree Pat. He is also survived by four sisters Jolan (Julius) Mazalin of Calgary, Rose Borsodi of Calgary, Teresa Folyi of Austria, Elizabeth (Istvan) Endre of Hungary and numerous nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and a brother.

Ken passed away comfortably on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 64.

Ken was born in Saskatoon. He is survived by his wife of forty-four years Gwen; a son Brian (Melanie) Stogran of Calgary; two daughters, Heather (Allan) Schramm of Peace River and Holly Stogran (Deanna Wiebe) of Calgary; and his three adored grandchildren, Danielle Schramm of Calgary, Richard and Melissa Schramm of Peace River. He will be missed by two brothers-in-law, Doug Park of Prince George and Curly Morrow of Penticton, BC; as well as two sisters-in-law, Heather Mathiasen of Penticton and Anice Park of Saskatoon, SK; and numerous other relatives and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents Rose and Dick Stogran.

Lee, Loring Olmsted

Loring Olmsted Lee, beloved husband of Ellen (Corey) Lee of Calgary for fifty-six years, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the age of 82 years.

Loring Lee was born in Pachuca, Mexico, the tenth of twelve children. He got his degree in geology from MIT in 1951 and worked as an exploration geophysicist in many parts of the world, and retired as Chief Geophysicist for PetroCanada in 1989. Loring enjoyed photography, travel and bowling with Stanley Park Lawn Bowling Club.

Loring is survived by his loving wife Ellen; sons Corey Lee of Calgary and David Lee and his wife Shiva of Andover, Massachusetts; and daughter Jennifer Lee Welsh and her husband Philip of London, England; grandchildren Justin Lee Dowling, Margaret Welsh, Michael Welsh and Darya Lee. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Wood of Seattle and Eleanor Earle of Baton Rouge as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
