Marguerite Lillian Elliott of Calgary, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at the age of 87 years.
Marguerite was born on February 1, 1920 at Halifax, NS. She married Tom Elliott in 1940 and lived various places across Canada during Tom’s Air Force career. They settled in Calgary and raised their five children. Marguerite was a homemaker and her family was very important to her. She enjoyed entertaining and particularly favoured the holidays when the extended family returned home. Marguerite also loved to travel.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband Thomas Elliott; parents Lillian and Silas Laphen; and two brothers. Marguerite is survived by her children, Robert (Jane) and his children Laura, Michael (Diane), and Robert (Michael); Liz Manley (Steve) and their children, Tara Shomody (Shawn) and Shawn (Shelanda); Thomas (Sandra) and their children Laurie Aitchison (Jeff),and Donna Cairns (Andy); William (Michael); David (Marilyn) and their children, Victoria and Kristopher; as well as ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her three sisters; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Low Horn who has gone home to our Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the age of 60 years.
Larry was born and raised on the Siksika Nation. He attended the Old Sun Residential School. He was involved in numerous events such as, boxing where he was the Alberta Champion and Golden Gloves Champion. Larry was also into bull riding and bronco busting. He worked as a ranch hand for Clifford Many Guns. Larry was a gentle and hard working man.
Larry is survived by his stepfather John Red Gun; brothers, Harold (Emma), Adrian (Elizabeth), Jonathan (Claudia), Keith (Melanie); sisters, Dolly (Morris), Donna, Priscilla, Ina, Roxanna (Stanley), Joyce, Jaylene (Randy), Marvine (Larry), Albertine (Sid), Rebecca, Sandy (Hubert), and Faye; aunts, Vera, Rachel (George), Grace (Rennie); adopted father and mother Clifford and Rosalyn Many Guns; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Delila Schmidt passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus while at home with her family on Monday, July 30, 2007. Lila lived 86 years of life to its fullest, enjoying every moment granted to her by her Creator.

Clarence Leslie Reed of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the age of 91 years.
Clarence’s mom and dad moved to a farm outside of Strathmore, Alberta in 1919 and from there they relocated to Carbon, Alberta in 1931. Clarence was active in sports, especially softball and hockey and he also loved to dance. It was while he was in Carbon that he met his sweetheart, Ellen. They married on July 15, 1941, while he was on embarkation leave from the army. Clarence then served overseas during World War II and when he returned they moved to Nanaimo, B.C. where his two daughters Brenda and Ilene were born. In 1950, work was more plentiful in Calgary so they moved back to Alberta and Clarence pursued his career as a plasterer, then as a custodian with the Calgary School Board until he retired at age 60. Clarence had a very active social life. He loved dancing, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening and visiting with friends, family and neighbours. He was a humble and loving husband, father and grandfather, content with his life. He will be remembered with smiles and kind thoughts by all who knew and loved him.
Clarence is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Reed and Ilene and Doral Douglas; four grandchildren, Cheri, Wayde, Ben and Jodi; and five great grandchildren, Jasmine, Jesse, Jack, Brooklyn and Isabelle; and by his sister Rosalie Rand. He is predeceased by his wife Ellen in November of 1999.

Calder (Cal) Watson Broadhurst of Alder Flats, AB passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 28, 2007.
Cal was born on Mother’s Day, May 9, 1948 in Calgary, AB. He attended Viscount Bennett High School where his love of football and later rugby took root. Cal was an active member of the U of C Dinos Football Alumni until a few years ago. He worked as a millwright for thirty years in Alberta and overseas. Cal loved life and could often be found dancing up a storm at the Ranchman’s after a performance with the Gunfighters Stunt Club. He participated in many rodeos, from Williams Lake to the Calgary Stampede, in the wild horse race event. His niece and nephew are proud to have two of his championship belt buckles. He finally realized his dream when he purchased his “horse ranch” south of Alder Flats, AB. Cal would spend his days fencing and working with and building up his herd, and enjoyed blacksmithing.
Cal is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Leigh and Dianne Broadhurst, of Water Valley, AB; his niece Kari; and his nephew Kel, of Cochrane. He is also survived by his aunt Betty Mitchell, of Kelowna, BC; five cousins Steve Nagy, and family, Brenda Spilak and family, of Kelowna, Daryl Cheney and family, of Vancouver, BC, Glen Aikenhead and family, of Saskatoon, SK, and Ian Aikenhead and family of Vancouver, BC; as well as many special friends. Cal was predeceased by his father Thomas in 1969 and his mother Muriel in 2006.

Carmela Caponigro passed away peaceful at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto, ON, on Friday, July 27, 2007 at the age of 78 years. She now has joined her beloved grandmother and uncle.
Carmela was born in Gorizia, Italy and immigrated along with her sister Helen to Canada when she was twenty-one. She married, raised her children and lived the majority of her life in Calgary, AB while enjoying her final year in Toronto. She loved her trips to the casinos and bingo halls; she enjoyed caring for her immaculate flower gardens; and spending time with her family.
