It is with deep sadness we announce Larry Wayne Bickford, of Carstairs (formerly of Calgary), passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the age of 57 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Maureen; (nee Gardner); daughter Brenda Reilly, grandchildren Cherylyn, Natasha and Kevin; great grandchildren Trinity and Cole all of Calgary; son Dan and Connie, grandchildren Paige and Danielle of Ft. McMurray formerly of Calgary. Additional family Valerie and Jonathon; his identical twin brother Laurie (Agnes), sisters Louise and Linda (Willie), and many special nephews and nieces. Also dear to his heart were The Gardner Girls and their family; The Wabick’s, Gary Weed; his neighbours and local fishing buddies of Carstairs; and former work colleagues of Trotter and Morton and Local 496 of Calgary.

A truly good and loving man has passed. Joseph (Joe) Dotta passed away peacefully on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the age of 48 years, with his family at his side.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marilyn; their children, Brandon, Caylin and Riley; as well as his loving mother Lidia; sister Marisa (Rod) and her children, Shaun (Leona), Nick and Erik; mother-in-law, Norma; brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Kevin; and sisters-in-law, Susan (Grant) and Kari and their families. Joe was predeceased by his father Rolando in 2003. Joe will be dearly missed by numerous family members, life long friends and colleagues.
Joe worked for the City of Calgary for over twenty-seven years and was proud to be a third-generation employee. Over his years of service, he worked in many districts in Roads Division, with the most recent being Foreman in District 6. As an exceptional man, Joe led a healthy lifestyle and had many hobbies and interests which included: fine dining, a wine collection, golf, camping, and cycling. He was a man of character, sincerity, and possessed immense patience.

Roman Gargula of Calgary passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 29, 2004 at the age of 81 years.
He was born on July 18, 1923 in Stary Sacz, Poland a sibling to seven sisters and three half brothers. His late teens were spent working as a Forester until May 25, 1943 when he was captured by the Nazis. As a POW he was transferred to various concentration camps, Sachenhausen being the last before liberation on May 1945. Post World War II led to a brief career as a clerk aiding displaced persons of the war camps to obtain documentation for immigration. He too chose immigration May, 1948 to Canada where he began an extended career at CP Rail, retiring as a Section Foreman at Dalemead, AB August 1988. Family life began August, 1961 after marrying Marianne Klak (predeceased). Roman is survived by his children Ann and Christine Gargula; son-in-law Warren Flaman; and cherished granddaughter, Justine. He is also survived by numerous relatives both in Canada and Poland. We will miss his weather predicting abilities, gardening expertise and seasoned cooking.

It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Giacomo (Jack) Castiello, beloved husband, father, and friend on Friday, October 29, 2004.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Josephine and two sons, Peter and Daniel as well as numerous family and friends. Jack was born November 28, 1949 in Brusciano, Italy and at the age of 25 immigrated to Calgary where he met and married his wife on May 10, 1975. Jack enjoyed working in construction and did so until his illness with Parkinson’s which made it difficult to continue, but that did not stop him from remaining active. He had a passion for animals and loved gardening especially his prized tomato plants. The family wishes to thank Dr. O. Suchowersky and staff at the neuroscience clinic as well as the many staff and residents at the fanning centre where he was a resident for the past three years.

Carolina Mazzei Mangone was called into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 29, 2004, while surrounded by her loving family.
Carolina is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Vincenzo Giovanni Mangone and daughter, Caterina (Paolo) Aiello and son, Luigi (Caterina Greco) Mangone, along with five grandchildren, Vincenzo (Anita) Aiello, Giovanni (Christina) Aiello, Rosina (Edmilson) Rodrigues, Carolina Mangone and Gianni Mangone, along with two greatgrandchildren, Avrille and Vianna Aiello, all from Calgary. Carolina has also left behind her twin sister, Caterina Pirito (Italy) and sisters Rosina Audia (Italy) and Giovanna Mangone (Calgary) along with numerous nieces and nephews. Carolina was born on October 4, 1915 in Castelsilano, Catanzaro, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1959 with her family. As in Italy, her life in Canada was filled with the love, happiness and joy of her large family and many friends. She involved herself with her bountiful garden, her knitting and sewing and the church, and dedicated her life to god and family. She was a beautiful and special person who will be sadly missed by all whose lives were touched by her.

Dave’s journey ended on Tuesday, October 26, 2004. He passed away peacefully at the Beverly Centre and his journey was eased by the care and compassion shown him by the caregivers there.
Dave was born on June 11, 1931 in Winnipeg. Always interested in military life he was active in Cadets and in 1951 received his commission in the Canadian Army Regular Force. Dave was proud to have served with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. After leaving the Regular Force, Dave enjoyed a career in sales and marketing in Red Deer and Winnipeg. The foothills and mountains of Alberta called him back to Calgary in 1972.
At Dave’s request no Funeral Service will be held. Anastacia (Tess) Lagace (nee Reveira), beloved wife of Michel Lagace of Calgary, passed away suddenly at her residence on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the age of 49 years.
Tess was born on August 14, 1955 in the Philippines in the small town of Batangas. Following her graduation as a Nurse, she immigrated to Greece. Tess married Michel on December 17, 1994 and was devoted to taking care of her family. She loved taking the kids to church every Sunday, baking bread and making wanton soup for the family. Tess was a very energetic woman who was kind to everyone she met.
Besides her loving husband Michel, Tess is also survived by her children, Jennifer and Kevin of Calgary. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters. Tess was predeceased by her parents.

Margaret (Peggy) Stichbury, beloved wife of Allan of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the age of 71 years.
Peggy was born in Winnipeg, MB on February 2, 1933 and raised in Starbuck, MB. She was initially employed as a Secretary with the Manitoba Government in Winnipeg. A highlight of her career was the honour of having the town site of JenPeg, MB named after her and her colleague. While in Winnipeg, Peggy met the love of her life, Allan. The banking business took them to many towns throughout the prairie provinces, with a final move to Calgary in 1975. These were busy years for Peggy, raising three children and working at various jobs within the community. She enjoyed her family, sewing, bridge club, music, hiking and world travel.
Peggy will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a true friend. Her memory is cherished by her husband Allan; her daughters Cathy (Kim) Joslin and Leslie (Rob) Locke; her son Rob (Tamara); and her grandchildren, Danielle, Paul, Kevin, and Christopher.

Joan Curtis, beloved wife of William Curtis of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the age of 69 years.
Joan was born on March 23, 1935 in Montreal, and came to Calgary in 1971. She was an active member of Beta-Sigma Phi, St. Stephen’s Church, the Mustard Seed, Cancer Society, and Calgary Women’s Club. She was an avid golfer and loved to play Bridge. She especially loved to be with her family and grandchildren.
Besides her loving husband William, Joan is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Christian (Linda) Linnington of High River, Kenneth (Beverly) Linnington of Calgary; and seven grandchildren, Devin, Kyle, Kristy, Kris, Dustin, Corey, and Nicole. She is also survived by her two brothers and beloved sister, Fred (Lorraine) Rawlinson of Toronto, Gwendolyn Rawlinson of Atlanta, and David (Deborah) Rawlinson of Calgary; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
