Helen Margaret Tucking of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Father Lacombe Care Centre on Wednesday, September 28, 2004 at the age of 90 years.

Helen is survived by her loving sisters, Sr. Marguerite, Cecelia and Alice; her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Gerard, John and Arnold; and by her sisters, Anne, Mary and Lillian.

Craig Miller of Carstairs passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at the age of 47 years.

Craig is survived by his loving daughter Sydney; son Devon Howton; and their mother Memirey Anderson of Carstairs. Craig is also survived by a sister Connie Maguire of Medicine Hat. Craig was predeceased by his parents, Matt and Bette Miller; and a brother Glen. For the last eight years, Craig has been employed servicing the dry cleaning industry.

Horton, Joyce St. Clair

Joyce St. Clair (nee Wilson) Horton, beloved wife of Bob of Calgary, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Holy Cross Extended Care Centre on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at the age of 85 years.

Joyce was born on February 14, 1919 in Winnipeg, MB. She loved to crochet, weave, was an avid gardener, and will be remembered for her amazing cooking. Joyce was very active at Southminster United Church with the Building Committee, as well as the United Church Women’s Group.

Besides her loving husband, Bob, Joyce is also survived by her daughter, Anne Cunningham; and her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Carol, all of Calgary; her son-in-law, Al Cunningham; and her five grandchildren, Sean Cunningham of Los Angeles, CA, Erin Cunningham and her husband Kamil Krulis, Marnie Cunningham, and Sam and Jake Horton, all of Calgary.

Bill was born on November 23, 1951 in Brooks, AB.

Wilf Weaver of Calgary, beloved husband of Gwen, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at the age of 76 years.

Wilf was born on February 5, 1928 in Natal, BC.

Wilf’s passion was to go hunting or fishing whenever possible. He loved to be with his family and especially enjoyed to attend his grandchildren’s hockey games, where he affectionately became known by all the players and coaches as the “Hockey Grampa”. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

Besides his loving wife, Gwen, Wilf is remembered by his children; Beverlee, Bonnie, Barbara and Michael; and two grandchildren, Niki and AJ. He is also survived by one brother, three sisters and numerous nieces, nephew and friends. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Rozika (Rose) Kusen, beloved wife of Peter Kusen on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at the age of 77 years.

Rose had a wonderful zest for life. She easily made many friends, was always willing to provide a lending ear, and took great pride in helping with the concerns of others even though frailties limited her in her later years. She deeply cared about her family, and her unshakeable faith served as her guide through many joys and tribulations. She was truly an inspiration.

Besides her loving husband, Rose will be dearly missed by her sons and daughter-in-law, Ivan (Carie) and Steven; as well as numerous siblings, extended family and friends.

Evangelista, Dante Obedoza

Dante Obedoza Evangelista, of Calgary passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Rockyview General Hospital on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the age of 54 years.

Dante was born on September 24, 1950 in Villasis, Pangasinan, Philippines. He was a Registered Civil Engineer. He followed his brothers, Cesar and Ruben and immigrated to Canada in September 1973. Dante began his career as a Draftsman and was promoted to Senior Structural Designer. He worked with companies such as Agra Monenco, Colt Engineering, Cimarron Engineering and Delta Engineering Ltd. Dante was a talented golf player, a brown belt karate champion and an avid bowler. He enjoyed fishing and loved swimming. Dante was an extreme perfectionist, very meticulous and always wanted nothing but the best. He was characterized by his easy going, sociable nature and had a contagious sense of humor. Dante was an extremely generous man to everyone in his life. He was a loving uncle to his nieces, Marilou, Melva, and Beverly, treating them like his own daughters, doing everything he could to support them through years of school and always instilling the values of a proper education. Dante was truly a genuine mentor always teaching about life’s valuable lessons.

Dante is survived by his mother, Serapia Lopez Obedoza Evangelista; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Julio and Elsie, Cesar and Brigitte, and Ruben and Brenda; nieces Joyce, Ivy, Marilou (Chris) Ignacio, Melva (Jeryl) Altares, Beverly Evangelista and Katrina; nephews Zaldy, and Robert; grand-nieces Jeziah and Mylena. Dante was predeceased by his father Eufronio Millano Evangelista.

Benjamin (Ben) Howard Johnson, beloved husband of Diana Doreen of Cochrane, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the age of 73 years.

Ben lived a rich and full life doing what he loved best fishing, boating, and enjoying his horses. He served five years in the Air Force and owned his own construction business until he retired to the farm at Cremona.

Besides his loving wife Diana Doreen, Ben is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Del Cornforth, Diana and Jeff Peterson, and Debbie and John Ulsifer; two sisters, Carol and Marie; eleven grandchildren, Aaron, Danis, Lisa, Charleen, Terry, Jerry, Marie, Fred, Joe, Juanita, and David; and four great-grandchildren.

Cook, William

It is with profound sadness that his family announces the passing of William (Bill) Clifton Cook, P.Eng, of Calgary, AB and Radium, BC, who passed away in Invermere, BC on September 28, 2004. Bill passed on as he lived, with courage, dignity and honour.

Born in Smithers, BC on November 9, 1927, Bill was the third of “the 4 boys” born to the late Fred and Vida (Moxley) Cook. Bill is survived by a large and loving family: his wife Cecelia Margretta; his children, Dr. Suzanne (Larry) Barnes, of Eagle, CO, Joanne (Allan) Halverson, of Calgary, William Alan (Renee) Cook, of Calgary, Louise Cook, of Surrey, BC, Christine (Deborah) Thomas, of Vancouver, BC, and Kathleen (Prof. George) Stawn, of Cochrane, AB; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Brett, Ryan, Alana, Stephanie, and Richard; his brothers, Dr. Fred (Mary), Robert (Marion) and Richard (Pat); and his mother-in-law Irene Green. He was predeceased by his infant grandson, Graham Cook on May 30, 1999. Bill also leaves many friends and acquaintances to mourn his passing.

A proud graduate of the University of British Columbia, and President of Corab Services Ltd., Bill earned the respect and admiration of many business associates. Bill loved to learn, to teach, and to challenge himself and those around him. He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman, a lover of nature, and an avid sportsman. Bill took great pleasure in traveling the globe with his wife.
