Leland Trenton Wesley passed away to our Creator on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the age of 24 years.

Leland will lovingly be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor and willingness to help others. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing ad he had a passion for fixing vehicles. Leland’s dream was to become a Certified Mechanic.

Leland a member of the Nakoda Wesley First Nation leaves behind in great sadness his two boys, Leland Jr. and Killian; brothers, Maynard Wesley, Kenny Hunter and Carver Salter (Jackie), sisters Niona (Jeff), Janet (Chris) and Hayley; uncles, Everett W. Jackson (Brenda), Michael W., Tater House (Dixie), Brian H., John Hunter Sr., Felix Beaver (Wanda), Ernest Wesley (Belva), Bill Wesley (Annie); aunties, Madline W., Rebecca W. (Myles), Evelyn H. (Jeff), Virginia H., Helen B. (Charles), Maryjane B. (Dallen); nephews, Shaun, Colby, Benji, Brad, Dennis; nieces, Tayla, Faithalyn, Jerita, Carvina, Merisha,; grandnieces, Sauntya and McKayla; all of Morley, AB. Leland was predeceased by his daughter, Trenadena in 1998; father, Killian House in 1984, mother, Ruth Wesley in 1998 brother Shawn in 1990; and his sister, Crystal in 1995. Leland will also be lovingly remembered by his close cousins and friends Gertrude Wesley, Tara Wesley, Dennis Dionne, Gardner Poucette, Jeff Howse, Big Norm from Calgary, AB and Ricardo. Phyllis Morgan, beloved mother of three children, of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at the age of 88 years.

Oldenhof, Gerrit Hendrikus

Gerrit Oldenhof of Calgary passed away at the Sarcee Hospice on Saturday, July 31, 2004 with his two daughters by his side after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 84 years.

Gerrit was born in Holland on April 8, 1920. He is survived by his two loving daughters and sons-in-law, Martina and Dennis Belanger, and Maria and Ross Mirka, all of Calgary; and by a surrogate son Gordon Yakemchuk, of Edmonton. He will also be missed by relatives and friends. Gerrit was predeceased by his wife Beertjie.

Robinson, Charlotte Jean

Charlotte Jean Robinson (nee Peat), beloved wife of Fred, passed away peacefully at the Brentwood Care Centre on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the age of 83 years.

Charlotte was born on October 6, 1920 in Ratho, ON. She earned her R.N. at Kitchener Waterloo Hospital in 1943, working there for several years, and then moved to Vancouver, nursing in Shaughnessy Veteran’s Hospital. Charlotte subsequently met her husband Fred, who worked in the oil business. After living in several centres in Western Canada, they finally settled in Calgary in 1966. Charlotte will be remembered as a loving person, with a strong sense of commitment to her family and friends. Her warmth, integrity, radiant smile and pleasant disposition will be missed by all that had the good fortune to be influenced by Charlotte.

Besides her loving husband, Fred, Charlotte is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Karen; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Richard; twin grandsons Derek and Brett; and two granddaughters, Leanne and Michelle; and step grandsons, Chris and Cory. She is also survived by her sister, Marion; and two brothers David and Lorne all of Ontario.

Lazich, Michael Eldage

Michael Lazich, beloved husband of Karen Lazich (nee Melnyk) of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the age of 52 years.

Michael was born on August 31, 1951 in Assiniboia, SK. He lived on a farm in Scout Lake, SK, and in 1962 he moved to Regina, SK. He met Karen in 1969, and they were married in 1971. They were married for thirty-three years and had two children a son and a daughter. Michael and his family moved to Calgary in 1980. His greatest passion was operating a crane, and he also loved to go camping, he especially loved to sit around the camp fire with friends.

Besides his loving wife Karen, he is also survived by his children, a son Edward, of Calgary, and a daughter Dawn Marie, of Regina; and five grandchildren. He will also be remembered by his mother Lillian; a sister Lyn; and a brother Rodney. Michael was predeceased by his father Samuel.

Kathleen Ruth Thompson (nee Campbell) passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2004.

Kathy was born and raised in Calgary and resided for a short period of time with Lloyd, her late husband in Germany and across Canada. She loved the birds, mountains, gardening, sewing, biking, spoiling her horse Ben, the zoo on a winter’s chinook day, sleepovers at Putter Park and special times with friends. For twenty-three years she safely transported school children and adults for Cardinal Coach Lines. Kathy will be lovingly remembered by her children Karen (Dan) and Kevin (Marnie); grandchildren, Payton and Autumn; mother Isabel Campbell; siblings Ann and Bill (Diane); nieces and nephews Nancy, Jim, Erin, Adam and Paul. She was predeceased by her father, Forbes Campbell.

Curtis, John Stephen

Dr. John Curtis, beloved husband of Mary of Calgary, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s at the Foothills Hospital on July 29, 2004 at the age of 81 years.

John was born in Sokol, Czechoslovakia in 1923 before moving with his family to Estevan, SK at the age of seven. John served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as a Wireless Operator and Technician. Thereafter, he obtained an Arts and Sciences degree from the University of British Columbia in 1948. He subsequently graduated from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry in 1950. John practiced optometry in Edmonton before opening his own offices in High River and beginning in 1952, in Calgary where he practiced until 1992.

John will be dearly missed by his wife Mary; his daughter Rosemary; his son Dean; his sisters Marie (Dennis) Hill-Tout of Calgary and Doris MacFarlan of Mt. Vernon, WA; his brother Andrew of Calgary; his cousin Milan (Agnes) Balog of Blairmore, and by his numerous nieces and nephews and their children. John was predeceased by his brother Donald.

Mackie, Lloyd Hubert

Lloyd Hubert Mackie, beloved husband of Linda Byma-Mackie, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 after a short illness at the age of 84 years. He was predeceased by his first love and wife, Minnie, in 1988, and will be missed by his sons, Brian (Elizabeth) and Darrell (Heidi); and grandchildren, Aaron (Kirstyn), Alissa, David and Kevin. He will also be missed by his second love and wife, Linda, who he married in 1990; and by her five children; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a kind gentle man whose life was an eloquent testimony of a man who walked closely with his Lord and Saviour and loved many with the love of Christ, a life which leaves a legacy of wisdom and wonderful balance for all who knew and loved him.

Gibbons, Dr. Ronald Valentine

Dr. Ronald (Ron) Valentine Gibbons, beloved husband of Wilma of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at the age of 80 years.

He was born on July 10, 1924 in Medicine Hat, AB, and raised in Picture Butte, AB. Ron attended the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Alberta. He began his dental career in Daysland, AB, and later moved to Lakeview in Calgary where he practiced until his retirement in 1991.

Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather – a man of thought, peace and integrity. He was quiet, well-read and possessed a great sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

Ron is survived by a loving family. Ronnie Raymond Twoyoungmen of Morley, AB, passed away at home on Friday morning, July 23, 2004 at the age of 40 years.

Ronnie was a spirited soul who believed in his traditional cultural upbringing, he was not one to judge anyone by appearances but was accepting of anyone with a handshake and a smile who came into contact with him.

Ronnie leaves to mourn his seven children, Dranden Bears Paw, Ramette Bears Paw, Bradford Lefthand (Sabrina) of Eden Valley, Elgen Bears Paw, Nicole Twoyoungmen; Brian Twoyoungmen; and Carly Twoyoungmen; adopted son Joshiya Hunter; five grandchildren; and eighteen nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his father Hugh Twoyoungmen; mother Helen (Brian) Twoyoungmen; sisters, Pam (Sonny), Claudia (Ali), Linda (Shawn), Agnus (Vince); as well as his common-law wife, Jackie Cecil.
