Ivan William (Snake) McDougall, beloved husband of Shelley, passed away in Calgary at the age of 38 years.
Ivan was born in Calgary at the General Hospital and raised in Siksika before moving to Calgary. In his younger years, he was active in Pow Wow dancing. He was very proud of his heritage and had strong Catholic beliefs. Ivan loved to watch hockey and baseball, and enjoyed spending time fishing with his Uncle Sam. Anyone who saw Ivan knew Shelley wouldn’t be far behind. He was also a talented artist, and especially enjoyed painting pictures of traditional Native scenes. Ivan truly loved his family, and was very proud, patient and loving of his four daughters. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his smile and laughter, and always joking and teasing with his friends in Calgary.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Shelley, and his four daughters, Tasha, Tanis, Brenda, and Serenity, all of Calgary. He also leaves to mourn two brothers Kevin McDougall and Michael Spring Chief; two sisters, Elaine Spring Chief and Shannon Ryder; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; five uncles Floyd, Errol (Anne), Harley (Delia), Sam (Alexis), and Kelly (Jackie); five aunties Joan (Don), Joyce (who he called “Mom”) and Jack, and Jason Spring Chief (who he thought of as a brother), and his special friend Jack Yellow Horse, Annette (Ryan), Shirley, and Ann-Marie (Blair); great-great-aunts Christine, Clarissa, and Annie; great-great-uncles Roy and Phillip, as well as the Running Rabbit, McMaster, and Duck Chief families. Ivan was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Brenda, who he was very close to and has gone to join them in Heaven; grandparents John and Elizabeth; auntie Delphine; and cousin Keith.
Wake Services will be held at Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall (Siksika Nation, AB) on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. Chris, passed away after a long and courageous battle on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at home surrounded by his family at the age of 19 years. This remarkable and cherished young man leaves behind his parents Rick and Susan and his sister Brenna. A very special thanks to his two best friends Trevor Hirsche and Ben Schoeber, along with their families, who helped make his all too short a life as full and enjoyable as possible. Chris was predeceased by his Grandpa Jack and a cousin, Blaine. He is survived by his grandparents Faye Unrau, Alice Hargreaves, Phil Lawrey, Les and Joy Hargreaves and many aunts, uncles and cousins. His spirit and sense of humor was always an inspiration to us and will continue to be. Chris was a huge fan of movies, Star Wars, The Simpsons, and the Vancouver Canucks. He was a computer whiz and a collector of trading cards, Star Wars memorabilia and model cars. His favourite pastime though was hanging out at home playing video or card games, watching movies with his friends or family and working with his laptop.

Eileen Ethel Mould, resident of Wentworth Manor, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Sunday, February 29, 2004 after a short illness.
Eileen was born in Vanguard, SK and as a teenager moved to Calgary. She married Bert Mould on November 29, 1939 and they were long time members of St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
Eileen is survived by sister-in-law Marie Jollimore of Vernon, BC; cousins in England; and will also be missed by friends and the Griffiths family. She was predeceased by her husband Bert Mould on June 20, 1996.

Ioana Soutzo (nee Perticari) beloved wife of Constantin, passed away peacefully at their home in Calgary on Friday, February 27, 2004 at the age of 96 years.
Besides her loving husband of sixty-six years, Ioana is survived by her three children Ioana Tarnowski of Calgary, Irene Deniau of Paris and their son Sandy Soutzo of Calgary, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren in Canada and France.

Wyman Howard J. Shampaign of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at the age of 95 years.
Wyman was transferred to Calgary from Montreal in 1949 and retired from Charles E. Frosst in June, 1973. He was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church since 1954. Wyman was truly a gentle man, and will be sadly missed by his wife Evelyn, sons Brian (Jean-Anne) and Allen (Judy); five grandchildren Leanne, Jennifer, Kenneth, Michelle and Robert; and five great-grandchildren.

Peter Franz Wiens of Calgary passed away at the Glamorgan Care Centre on Sunday, February 22, 2004 at the age of 67 years.
Peter was born in McAuley MB. As a youth he loved to play hockey and baseball and was a member of the Cub Scouts of Canada. Peter worked in the oil patch for several years then began his career with AGT Canada and later Edmonton Telephone. He loved to go to coffee shops to meet with friends.
Peter is survived by four brothers, Jake of Tees and John (Carol) of Sherwood Park, David (Hilda) of Calgary and Abe (Joanne) of Calgary; a sister Mary (Russ) of Brandon MB; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Elizabeth and his brother Henry.

Nellie (Nell) Carter passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at the age of 88 years.
Nell was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK and married Edward Forrest Carter on January 4, 1939. In 1941 they moved to Brantford, ON where both of their children were born and where Mr. Carter continued his employment with Cockshutt Farm Equipment. In 1949, after Mr. Carter retired, they returned to Calgary where Nell has since resided. She was an active member of Group 8 of Riverview United Church, volunteered for the Volunteer Bureau and for the Alberta Cancer Society, was an active member of the Glencoe Club since 1951, where she enthusiastically participated in bridge, mixed curling and bowling. Also, for many years Mrs. Carter enjoyed oil and water painting and was an avid reader.
Nell is remembered by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Mary; son-in-law Kevin Baker and his wife Cathy; five grandchildren, Bryan (Wanda) Carter, Geoff (Tara) Carter, Cameron (Nicole) Baker, Jordi (David) Rowe, and Arden Baker; as well as two great-grandchildren, Ryan Baker and Benjamin Carter. She was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1960 and her daughter Lori Baker in 1996.

Miranda van Herk of Calgary, beloved wife of Rhys Courtman and daughter of Mirja and Andrew van Herk, passed away suddenly in Rhys’ arms on Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at the age of 20 years.
Miranda was a loving, joyful and intelligent young woman who brought happiness to all who knew her. She had already found the love of her life, Rhys, and she was looking forward to a career in Psychology, working to help children when she completed her studies at the University of Calgary. She was very close to her family and knew how to appreciate all the special moments in life. She faced adversity with endless courage and spirit.
